Fitness for Tribal Programs: According to recent studies of the American Journal
of Medicine, people who exercise and eat healthy tend to get more sleep and get
fewer illnesses along with positive outlook on life than those who don’t.
Briefly, the outcome is due to the improved basal metabolism in the body and
socialization with others. We encourage program managers to get their program
involved in this wellness program with hopes to find their staff having better
work habits, increased energy, and positive attitudes. Set up an appointment
with us today and we will provide you with a health screening to see if your
staff is at risk for diabetes. In addition to the health screening, we can
provide you with exercise classes, diabetes education, nutrition education and
much more. Just ask!
Our Program:
Before
a person starts any exercise program it is essential to have a complete physical
by physician. The fitness professional then does an extensive evaluation of the
client’s current fitness level. Our staff is trained and educated in
developing fitness and nutrition programs tailored to meet your personal goals.
Brenda
Uses Arrow, Fitness Coordinator, is a certified fitness trainer and is CPR/AED
certified. All staff at the fitness center is CPR/AED certified. Any effective
exercise program demands dedication and consistency to be successful.
Consistency means committing a minimum of three days a week to a program. This
minimum effort will assist the body in strengthening muscles, burning excess
sugar in the blood and burning body fat. The bottom line is you have to move it
to lose it!

SWO Fitness Center Running
Club- The SWO Fitness Running Club was created as a means of promoting wellness
in the community. The club was started in September 2009 and as of this date it
has 13 members. The running club has chosen the motto of “Running for a
Healthy Community” and the goal of the club is to encourage and support
wellness through physical activity. The club attends charity and wellness runs
throughout the area. Club members encourage and support one another as they run
for wellness. They log their miles each week and earn incentives for their
dedication to wellness.

The Stages of Change. Where
do you fit in?
Pre-Contemplation
(resisting change): This
is either a denial of the problem, or an awareness of the problem with an
unwillingness to change. (I don’t need it!)
Contemplation (change on the horizon): There is an awareness of a
problem, an understanding of the pros and cons of change, yet there is a fear of
change. (Well maybe!)
Preparation (getting ready): There is a clear awareness of the problem
and the need to learn how to change. I am going to try to make the time because
I think I am ready!
Action
(time to move): The
person starts to terminate unhealthy behaviors and develop new, more positive
behaviors. I am starting my wellness program at the fitness center today!
Maintenance (staying there): action behaviors are practiced and
continually reinforced until they become automatic and last for an extended
period of time. (I am going out to the fitness center 3-5 days a week or going
for daily walks, eating healthier)
Progress:
I am making progress to living a healthy lifestyle
Relapse: Oops! Time to get back on
Calendar
of Events:
